Zimbabawe Corps of Signals
Stable Belt Buckle Current (2015)
[Colin Hodgkins collection ZIM 0001]
The Zimbabwe Corps of Signals formed on the 18th April 1980 from the Rhodesian Corps of Signals when the country became Zimbabwe.
This a current example of the Zimbabwe Corps of Signals stable belt buckle. It has missing the hook loop fastening end and the fabric belt.
The insignia is fixed slightly off kilter but is overall a nice buckle. It is a coloured enamel on brass set on a chrome buckle. The main body of the insignia is raised with the enameling inset. Mercury (‘Jimmy’) is therefor all gold rather than silver. The globe colour hints, though I think inadvertently, to the colonial heritage where global maps showed the countries of the British Empire all thus coloured.
