South Africa Corps of Signals
SACS WWII Non-void Badge 1939/40
This is the WWII South Africa Corps of Signals Unofficial large white metal badge.
This badge was made in Johannesburg in about 1939 or 1940 of white metal and only a small number were issued. It is said that it possibly was a pith helmet badge rather than a cap badge. The pith helmet was worn by South African Signals up to 1943. The badge is larger than the usual SACS cap badge which lends weight the the theory of it being a pith helmet badge.
